This is a majolica style plaque by Anton Lang. Anton Lang was a German potter from Oberammergau known for portraying Jesus Christ in the Passion Play in the early 20th Century. He would work with clay when he was not acting. This plaque is a rare and early example of his work. It is signed in script on the back. Age: Early 20th Century Measurements: Approximately 10" in diameter Condition:A few minor hairline cracks and a bit of a chip with paint loss on the bottom rim. Otherwise in excellent antique condition. |
